Giant Anteater

Scientific name: Myrmecophaga tridactyla

 

Anteaters are mammals known as endentate animals with a long toungue and no teeth. Their long tongues are specially adapted to lap up 35,000 ants/termites each day. Giant Anteaters are the largest of 4 anteater species reaching eight feet long from the tip of its snout to the end of its tail. It is covered in grayish brown fur with white front legs, black stripes running from its chest to its back, and a large bushy tail.
