Its Carnival Time
6th Aug 2018
To celebrate World Lion Day, on Saturday 4th August 2018, a pride of African dancers stalked their way through Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm. The carnival featured acrobats, African dancers, drummers and a range of giant African carnival animals. The performance was created by Unika Dance Events a London based, bespoke dance company who came to celebrate World Elephant Day in 2017.
The carnival is the biggest event of the year at the zoo and the festivities this year celebrated World Lion Day. Over 2000 people came to see the carnival and we managed to fundraise a total of £200 for the Safina Lion Conservation Trust. Masi and Arusha strutted their stuff during the Big Cat Keeper talk as the keepers gave them some extra special enrichment.
We were honoured to have special guest, Cleo Lake, Lord Mayor of Bristol joi us for the festivities. The Lord Mayor heard about the carnival through our event pages and decided it would be a great event to bring her family to and meet the dancers.
Come and join us next year for another great day of carnival fun!
