Family Fun Day Out! Meet Our Bengal Tigers… Amongst Many Others Amazing Animals

The summer is in full swing, and this weekend is said to be a sun-drenched one. So where better to bring the kids for a guaranteed fun-filled family day out? With a huge range of both big zoo animals, reptiles, farmyard animals and more – as well as our indoor and outdoor adventure play zones – we can’t think of a better place to spend the day (OK, we may be a little biased, but we really can’t!). What’s more, while they’re here, you can show them some of the beautiful animals in the world that are currently under threat.

We read in the news this week that a report, released two days before International Tigers’ Day on July 29th, found that there are only 106 Bengal Tigers left in Bangladesh.

Back in 2006, Professor Dr Monriul H Khan conducted a study that found 200 of the big cats, showing that the number is on the decline. To conduct the study, 270 cameras were set up to capture pictures of the tigers for a year. The images were then analysed by experts who could tell the majestic animals apart from their unique stripes; after all, no two tigers have the same stripes – just like the fingerprints of humans. A century ago, said the report, Bengal Tigers roamed in 17 districts of Bangladesh, but today the Sundarbans is their only habitat in the country.

We are privileged to be able to offer a home to two Bengal Tigers here at Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm – Tiana and Khan. Naturally, we are concerned about the diminishing population of the big cats in the wild, and partake in continuing conservation efforts to do all we can to protect the world’s endangered species. Whilst at the zoo, it is important that children are educated about conservation and the need to protect these majestic animals.

Come and say hello to our Bengal Tigers and all our other amazing creatures here at Noah’s Ark. Kids of all ages will enjoy getting up-close and hands-on with the animals. Little ones, especially, will love being given the chance to hand-feed our goats, deer, camels, sheep and pigs, as well as the chickens and ducks. If they want to cuddle a furry friend, they can hold a rabbit, guinea pig and chick in the Animal Village, and stroke the ponies, horses, goats, sheep, cows and reindeer in the Animal Show Pens.
