Merry Christmas From Noah’s Ark!

Siamang Gibbon Christmas Nf

Christmas Day is just around the corner, followed closely by the end of 2014. So we thought it was the perfect time to think about the past, present and future goings-on at Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm; reflecting on key happenings from an eventful year, as well as exciting things taking place at the moment and in 2015…

Exciting moments One of the highlights for us has to be the opening of our elephant barn and the arrival of our three beautiful elephants. Both the fields and barn are state-of-the-art and have been described as a “five-start destination for elephants” – and it’s not hard to see why: computer-controlled winches for automated night time feeding, a central heating system, swimming pool and six deep sand yards are just some of the luxury elements of Elephant Eden. Buta, Janu and M’Changa made themselves at home very quickly, and we can’t imagine what Noah’s Ark life was like before them. 2014 saw the year that celebrated Noah Ark’s 15the anniversary, and we opened for a new, longer season. We were also delighted when our second giraffe was born, as well as another endangered Siamang Gibbon.

We had our last Nativity play on Saturday: a local theatre group called Portishead Young Players performed ‘The Nativity: The Animals’ Tail’ – along with real animals! It was a great chance for families to get festive, and enjoy the chance to meet our real reindeer. The Nativity play is free, included in the admission price, we’ll do the same again next year!

Looking forward Get set for some special developments on the horizon for Noah’s Ark. The New Year will see plenty of exciting changes – including new and improved indoor facilities and heated softplay areas. Watch this space!
