This is not the first time the zoo has won awards for its Sustainable Tourism efforts, the zoo currently holds gold in the Green Tourism Business Scheme and the Innovation Award (for innovations in sustainability) from the National Farm Attractions Network. Noah’s Ark is hugely devoted to teaching the next generation how to care for the natural world and become more sustainable. We hold regular events focusing on conservation and the natural world. Recently such events have included workshops creating bird feeders for native birds as well as keeper talks focusing on what visitors can do to protect endangered species. Noah’s Ark is dedicated to generating as much of our own energy as possible, 1/3 of our energy comes from renewable resources, using a wind turbine, biomass boilers and solar panels. Our keepers are always looking for innovative ways to enrich their animals’ lives. They often use waste products from local businesses, reducing both our environmental footprint as well as supporting local business in costs of disposing of waste. This includes using Christmas trees from local garden centres, waste fruit and vegetables for our animal food, waste meat, coffee sacks, empty carpet tubes and chickens from the local egg farm. If you have any questions about Sustainability and want to know what else we do on site or what you can do to help please do get in touch.

The outstanding customer service award was also given on the night to the customer services and sales team at Noah’s Ark for their fast responses and their efforts to go above and beyond and give all visitors the best experience possible.

One of our keepers has been explaining how we provide sustainable enrichment for our animals.
