Noah’s Ark – educational and inspirational

14th Apr 2016

Workshop 3

Here at Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm we see the education of our guests, and employees, as a top priority. Education should be fun and rewarding – we think Noah’s Ark fits this bill and feedback from teachers agrees! We’re constantly updating our education programme and also sending our dedicated team off on new courses or signing them up to new programmes; this means we can ensure we’re always at the cutting edge when it comes to the welfare of our animals, conservation best-practices and the expert knowledge required to educate our visitors on each and every one of our wild guests. For this reason we think Noah’s Ark is the perfect location for an educational summer visit. Although school children may see a day out as an excuse not to learn, given the beautiful surroundings and the engaging animal encounters we provide, most of the time they’re having too much fun to realise they’re learning lots of interesting stuff too!

Workshop 1

We’re fast becoming one of the premier school trip destinations in the region; welcoming 25,000 children on organised group trips with their teachers every year. Our workshops are designed to be fun and interactive, creating an environment that is conductive to learning without compromising on enjoyment. All our educational services are linked to the National Curriculum, so you can be sure each and every child is receiving a real educational experience. Some specific workshop topics we cover are: African Animals; Habitats & Adaptations; Conservation; Classification; Lifecycles; Teeth & Eating. We even offer a Creative Writing session, encouraging the development of imaginative young minds!

Workshop 2

Some of the other exciting learning experiences we offer are: Keeper talks, where guests learn about what it’s really like to look after and manage a specific creature – from elephants and big cats to primates and reptiles; animal handling; and our Elephant Eden or Andean Adventure exhibits, where guests can really get to know all about Janu and M’Changa (our two African elephants) and Tupa and Sonco (our Spectacled bear brothers). As well as specific talks and experiences, we provide detailed information on all our animals housed on our 110 acre site; from giraffes and tigers, to lions, rhinos, monkeys and crocodiles. In fact, we house animals from all corners of the globe – so no matter how much you think you know about the world’s creatures, you’re sure to discover something new during your visit.

Our size means there’s plenty of space for school trips to run around and explore, whether using one of our 15 play areas or out and about around the site. We offer amazing group rates for schools and free teacher places on a ratio of 1:6. The workshops are also excellent value for money at £25 per session, or £20 each when you book two or more. So why not book in for an educational visit this spring? For schools looking to book a day out for the class, we offer generous free coach parking and spacious picnic areas for everyone to relax and enjoy the slowly warming weather.

We are open Monday to Saturday, 10:30am to 5:00pm. If you’re a school looking to book, visit our school visit prices page, or if you’re simply searching for a fun learning experience for all the family head to our online ticket page now for a 5% discount. We look forward to welcoming you soon!
