Great News! Volunteer Opportunities at Noah's Ark Zoo Farm are BACK!

We are delighted to announce that our popular adult volunteering placements at Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm are back and we are ready to accept applications. These roles had to be paused for a period of time due to the impact of COVID-19, but we now have the placements up and running again and are so happy to welcome volunteers back into our teams!

Volunteering at Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm promises to be an exciting, hands-on experience that will see you play an important role in assisting with the running of a particular area of the zoo. As a volunteer you will work within a specific team that either looks after a section of animals or works to maintain and ensure upkeep of the site. These placements are a brilliant experience for people with a keen interest in animals and conservation, and will provide a valuable opportunity in getting to know the zoo and agricultural industries.

Theo, who has been volunteering with us for ten years, had this to say about his time at Noah’s Ark:

“I started volunteering back in 2012 just after I had finished school. I had always loved animals as a kid; I loved learning all about them and was really into David Attenborough documentaries! I started out working at the weekends and eventually did some weekdays, too. The experience of volunteering has been amazing – I’ve learnt so much about caring for animals, worked with really friendly teams of people, and I’ve grown in confidence as a person, too. I’d recommend the volunteering placement to anyone!”

There are seven types of volunteer roles available:

Africa Section Volunteer

This role will see you working alongside a team to help look after Giraffes, Zebras, Ostriches, Rheas, African Pygmy Goats, Guinea Fowls, and the Southern White Rhinos.

South America Section Volunteer

This role will see you working alongside a team to help look after Andean Bears, Lions, Lowland Tapirs, Capybaras, Maras, Poison Dart Frogs and Ring-tailed Coatis.

Grounds Team Volunteer

This role involves working in the grounds to help manage different areas of the site such as all lawns, hedges and trees, play areas, etc. Please note that this role has no direct work with animals or their care.

Primates Section Volunteer

This role will see you working within a team helping to look after Siamang Gibbons, Ring Tailed Lemurs, Black and White Ruffed Lemurs, Cotton Topped Tamarins, Wallabies, Porcupine, Meerkats, Skunks, Prairie Dogs, Bactrian Camels.

Elephant Section Volunteer

This role will see you working within a team to help look after the African Elephants. Please note the elephant facility operates as a strict protected contact management, meaning no keepers share the same area as an elephant at the same time. 

Birds and Reptile Section Volunteer

This role will see you working within a team helping to look after Birds of Prey, Waterfowl, Poultry, African Crowned Cranes, Pheasants, Emu, Spix Guan, Village Weavers, Parrot Species, Tortoises, Snakes, Lizards, and Invertebrate.
